How to clean a Kabuki Brush and...more mascara!

After realizing that I had never, not once cleaned any of my make-up brushes, I bought Clinique's Makeup Brush Cleanser ($12.50 for 8 oz) from Sephora. It worked great on my angled eye-liner brush and my eye shadow brush, but when it came to my kabuki brush, I have to admit I was stumped.

So, after some investigating I found an article at ehow.com about Cleaning those darned Kabuki brushes. It turns out that they can be cleaned just like any other brush, you just have to be a little more delicate so that the brush maintains its shape, and you should let it dry standing up for best results.

Once I figured that out, I found myself once again at my local CVS in need of paper goods (paper towels, toilet paper), but as I walked down the beauty aisle (they would make you walk through all the good stuff to get to the things you need) I noticed L'Oreal's New Extra Volume Collagen Mascara ($7.99). Obviously, I had to try it. But, in my haste I didn't notice that I had picked up Brown Black instead of Black or even better, Blackest Black until I opened the package to use it the next morning. But, color aside, the brush is huge, and it really does give my lashes tons of volume (so far I have experienced zero clumping and no spikiness, hooray!). Although it doesn't beat out my current fave (Benefit's BADgal Lash) it comes very very close and it is definitely a bargain at under $10. I will definitely go back and buy it in Blackest Black!
